Tiger Okoshi

“I want to paint the air with my colorful tone. Choices between long or short strokes, quick or slow, high in the canvas or low, brighter color or darker, with a fat brush or a pen. Paint the air one note at a time.” says Tiger of his playing and of his captivation with the playing of Louis Armstrong.
Tiger (Toro) Okoshi, Professor at Berklee College of Music; Yamaha Artist; and Japan Airline Supporter, is an extremely versatile trumpeter who plays everything from fusion to straight-ahead jazz. His many musical years include star-studded performances with the likes of Tony Bennett, Dave Grusin, Pat Metheny, Bella Fleck, and Gary Burton to name a few. His performance on this date will feature some of Tiger’s favorites accompanied by a highly entertaining dissertation of his journey from Japan to Berklee in Boston and beyond with many on-the-road adventures!
